The artist's statement: Art has been a driving force in my life for as long as I can remember. From a very young age I decided that I was going to spend my life creating art and was determined to make a career out of it. I was introduced to graphic design by my Jr. High computer teacher and fell in love with the idea of creating art that embodies a company as a whole. I loved idea that art that could be seen around the world by millions of people every day. This introduction to the design world paved my way to a great exploration of the many different types of graphic design. Through out my college career I have had the pleasure of creating a body of work that I believe captures my abilities as a designer. Most of my pieces are created in Adobe Illustrator as well as some mixed media. The classes that I have completed for my concentration have furthered my understanding of the visual communication of graphic design as well as the language that defines it. Many of the pieces that I have included in my portfolio are brightly colored with innovative imagery that I hope enables these pieces to capture the viewer's eye. One of the posters that I have created that has a great deal of meaning to me is "3RachelLindGraphicDesign2013". This poster, a Cardiovascular Research poster for CSU, was assigned around the same time that my grandmother had a heart attack. I used old clock pieces that my grandma had given me to create an image of a heart that speaks to the idea of our hearts being an internal clock. I have enjoyed my time at CSU learning many new things and talking with other artists. I will miss my days of college but am very excited to start my new life as a college graduate.
