The U. S. Geological survey started a program of drilling in the Long Park and vicinity area in April, 1949, to find deposits that might be developed into new mines and to appraise the reserves of the area. About 50,000 feet of additional drilling is plam1ed for Long Park and vicinity in 1951. Of this amount 30,000 feet will be used to find and partly define deposits, and 20,000 feet will be used to test the ground between the San Miguel River and the area already drilled by the survey.
