Bull Canyon is an important uranium producing area, centrally located in the Uravan Mineral Belt of southwest Colorado. Nearly all of the deposits are in the Salt Wash member of the Jurassic Morrison formation. Other rock units exposed range from early Jurassic to early Cretaceous in age. Within the Salt Wash member most of the mineralization has occurred either near the middle of the lowest sandstone, or in the third sandstone above the base.
