Diamond drill exploration far URANIUM-VANADIUM deposits in the Morrison formation - Salt Wash member of Calamity Mesa, Mesa County, Colorado, was initiated May 5, 1949, and completed February 19, 1950. An area of approximately 11 square miles was explored on the map by the Colorado Exploration Branch of the New York Raw Materials Office. The principal purpose of the project was to determine the ore reserve potentialities of the wide, unexplored area situated between the Calamity and Maverick groups of claims.
