Section III of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5; American Psychiatric Association [APA], 2013) presents a hybrid model containing both categorical and dimensional features, entitled “Alternative DSM-5 Model for Personality Disorders”. Prior to the introduction of this model, the DSM had yet to include specific maladaptive personality traits in the diagnosis of personality disorders.
