Tuberculosis (TB) is the leading cause of death from infection worldwide killing 1.4 million people in 2015. There is an urgent need for shorter TB treatment but a major impediment to TB drug trials is lack of early surrogate outcomes. Existing surrogate endpoints are cultured-base and poorly predictive of treatment failure and relapse.
