Neuroinflammation is an extremely deleterious event considered to be a cause and consequence of prolonged seizures. The exact mechanisms contributing to hyperexcitability-induced neuroinflammation are not very well-defined. Understanding these mechanisms can lead to novel anti-epileptogenic therapies.
