Abstract
The title of the following collection, "Have Mercy," comes from the final story, which shares the same title. The characters in the pages that follow share a common thread; they are trying to determine what it means to be deserving of mercy, of grace, and of understanding. Many characters sense that the relationships with those they love have been damaged. Some of these characters have caused that damage themselves. Some have done so deliberately. Despite this, they feel it is imperative that they mitigate the disrepair in their relationships by negotiating terms that they can live with.
