Written on back of original photograph: "Harvesting sugar beets c. 1921. Numbers were assigned to farmers to expedite the weighting [sic] of beets at the beet dump. Then the dirt and green tops were deducted from the weight. Note: the large fork, and the numbers on the wagons. Harvesting. Full wagons weigh about four tons. Note. Wagon numbers."
